Ok ok, so I'm bad at updating this regularly. We've been busy.

To catch you all up:
  1. We bought a house

The house

It's wonderful! The roof went on a week late which caused some freaking out, but it all worked out in the end.

The new roof

  1. We painted the house (by "we" I mean Andrew, me, Nicole, Robert, Addy, Peter, Laura, Papa, Paige, Jennifer, LeeAnn & Ryan) I'll go over it more next post.
The living room got a two-tone stripe.
It's beautiful and it makes me happy :)

Cough cough

Since I ripped the zipper pull off my pants, a paperclip works suprisingly well. Another thing I learned: if you dampen the paper towel slightly before you blow your nose in it it doesn't hurt.

We get three weeks off looking for houses :)
We put in an offer on a short sale and gave them a month to decide. We start looking again in three weeks just in case the reject us. Let's hope that the third time's a charm!

I feel terrible.

I love Lauren & Ryan. They are so much fun!

It's hard waiting for the sellers of the house we like to let us know about our offer! I didn't sleep well last night. Neither did Andrew.

I'm going to try my hand at Chinese cooking this evening. When we were in Disney with Lauren this last time, we had a delicious little puff ball. We asked what it was called. I don't remember what they said, buy Ya said they were called "baozi". I found a recipe and we got the filling last night from the Korean market by TCC (we also got the fixins for sushi, but that'll be attempted this weekend). I'll stop by Publix for the rest of the ingredients on my way home tonight.

An interesting tidbit of information: I did a clip art search for "baozi" in Word, and it actually came back with an image of it! I think this may be the first time that Word has come back with applicable clip art. Bu it still tells me I spell it wrong. go figure.

House!

So we found a house. We put in an offer yesterday afternoon. We gave the owners until Wednesday to respond to it. I won't say more :)

Apparently though I take nauseating videos.

I switched the slideshow to the left from Xmas pictures to ones I took from our trip to Disney for our anniversary last month. Picasa/Blogger finally recognised the album.

Happy Birthday honey!

I think Andrew had a good birthday. Everyone came except Justin. I can only assume he forgot. We didn’t quite stay up all night watching moves, but it was pretty late before the last person left. Up again early to make breakfast. I’m not a super-cook, so Andrew didn’t get the elephant or giraffe pancakes he asked for, but he did get silver-dollar-Mickeys. With weird ear tumors. And lopsided. Lauren & Paige came over to eat. Dinner came out good too. The fam showed up as did all the guys & Lauren. Paige showed up late, ate, and left which I thought was a little weird, but whatever. I’m not sure our friends grasp the idea of a “pot luck”.

We house hunted on Sunday. I’m getting a little frustrated. Kenley keeps showing us houses in this one neighborhood, but it’s not near anything. It just seems so far away. I have to do some research today. Andrew says its close to TCC, but all I keep thinking is that it is going to take me an hour to get home at night.

Lots of links and rain!

We, and by “we” I mean “Andrew” finally did our taxes. We, and by we I mean “we”, had a moment of panic when the IRS rejected the efile. It was all my fault. It said my name wasn’t right and I just about had a panic attack (not really, but I was deeply concerned that the name change stuff I did a year ago hadn’t stuck). It turned out that there was a typo on the form. It was trying to match me to a “wakins”. Whew. Crisis averted.

Speaking of averted crises, Friday has opened up and will now be less stressful. We aren’t meeting Kenley anymore, so we’ll be able to sleep just a touch more. Woo!

So, I didn’t think the car was as dirty as God did. Man did it rain yesterday night (and all day today so far)! It rained so hard I couldn’t see Lauren’s building from our house. It’s only like 100-150 yards away. Sheesh! I like Florida. You can see the rain coming. I remember once in Penwood I think, that we were outside looking at Doak and in like 2 seconds it disappeared. That rain was hauling! We got back inside real quick. I always liked that at Pap’s house too. The trees in the pasture would disappear and then the rain would start at the house. I guess it’s like that in other places besides Florida, I just haven’t experienced it. Another thing that is way cool is when you are at the beach and there is a storm coming. I love how you can see the edge. It’s prettiest at sunrise when it’s all pink and purple and stormy.

Break

We're taking a break from houses this week because Kenley is busy. We'll look again on Friday. But oh man is Friday going to be busy!

Here's the agenda so far. Andrew is going to drive me to work at 7 (so I can get off at 4 and he can get to work on-time). At 3:30, he should get off work and come pick me up at 4 so we can go meet Kenley at 4:30. After looking at some houses (for who knows how long) we (or I because it is Andrew's birthday so he shouldn't have to do anything) get to go home and finish any party things (like cleaning the house or decorating). At 7, people should start showing up for the party. Sometime in the wee morning hours I get to go put dinner in the crock pot so I can pull it Saturday afternoon at 3:30ish and get it back into the pot for an hour before people show up for dinner. At breakfast time on Saturday, I think we are having pancakes and bacon, so I get to cook that for whoever is left of the All-Night-Movie-Marathon. I think then Andrew wants to go to the park and play frisbee golf. I plan on making lots of coffee. Lots. At dinner, his fam is coming over along with anyone else who either hasn't left yet or is returning for a pot luck. A true pot luck I am told. Now I haven't planned past this point yet. The only thing I do know is that we need to get some paper plates.

House hunting begins

This morning we went house-looking with Kenley. It was fun. We saw like 8 houses, but we only really liked two. One Andrew likes and one I like lol. One house has a massive deck (Andrew’s favorite part and my least favorite part) and the other has a cute little kitchen & dining room (my fav, but Andrew’s least fav). The house I like would need a lot of cleaning up, like all the carpet has got to go, but it is a little bigger. I brought my camera, but didn’t take pictures. Next time I will because I’m getting confused. Andrew & I need to talk more about what we want.

Happy St. Paddy's day!

I have a sprig of clovers in my hat, so no pinches for me!

Sunday:
We went out to UDave’s house and shot at clays. It was much fun. You can see the pictures with captions if you click on the slideshow to the left. We shipped out early to head down to Orlando.

We stayed at Lauren’s parent’s house because they are awesome. Andrew helped Kimmie with her homework and played chess with Lonnie. The horses are the most important pieces. Lonnie wouldn’t have lost if he had not given up both his horses. I’m just saying.

Monday:
We got up and Lauren took us to Animal Kingdom. It was so much fun! We went on Everest and a safari. Yay! Pictures are to the left. As soon as Picasa will let me upload videos, those’ll be up too. We ate lunch at this awesome Asian place. We got to see a white rhino and lots of animal butts. The gorillas were in a posing mood. Lauren is fun. We love Lauren. We saw the Lion King show last. It was pretty cool. We went to Epcot for dinner and fireworks. We ended up eating at Morocco. It was good! Apparently I freaked out. I don’t remember freaking out as bad as Andrew says I did. Sorry. Fireworks were awesome. We camped out in front of Italy. At the end of the night, Lauren’s wallet sunk to the bottom of the World Showcase Lagoon. Woohoo! After a while of filling out reports and such, we headed on our way back home.

Tuesday:
We went shopping briefly in the outlet mall by the turnpike. It was kind of fun. Lauren came on her way back to Disney to get a new ID and Main Gate and such. I realized on the way home that traveling on not-holiday weekends/days are awesome. Traffic was wonderful.

Friday:
We took a day-trip to St George. It was so nice out! We sunblocked and walked down the beach a while and dig a big hole under a log. Digging is fun. I have pictures, but alas, they are still on my camera. They’ll come off eventually. We ate a big lunch at Boss Oyster. I found it’s best to not look at oysters while you are eating them. Ew.

In other news, we think we’ve picked a lender for our house. It turns out it’s the one that works in Kenley’s office. Sa-weet! Today should be the last day of gathering stuff for her so she can pre-approve us and we can start looking at houses. Yay!

In even other news, the surgeon that did my surgery’s office blows. They owe me a bunch of money and they are a pain to get anything from. It took them 2 weeks to cash the check I gave them before the surgery. >:/ I’m going over there today to get the check, even if I have to wait.

Houses and fun

I talked to a mortgage person today. We are apparently pre-qualified for much much more than we had originally thought. That doesn’t matter though; I don’t think we are going to look at things that are any more expensive than we would have looked at yesterday. What we are qualified for and what we can afford are two entirely different things.

Donuts and realtors

I got my stitches out, but it wasn't healed. Now it hurts all over again.

But on a happier, unrelated note, I made donuts last night. Boy were they good. Now I just gotta learn how to fill them with jelly and I'll be golden. What I did was:
  1. Andrew got a can of biscuit dough for me from Publix
  2. I poked holes in the biscuits with a bottle cap so I could get the donut holes too.
  3. I fried them in Andrew's deep-fryer on like medium for maybe a minute or two on each side. I took out one and cut a chunk out to see if it was cooked and then tried to match the color, which worked out to a minute or two.
  4. I tossed them in cinnamon and sugar in a tupperware. Next time I think I'll spring for the paper bag. My sugar and stuff started to clump up and not stick to the donuts; maybe the bag does better.

I didn't know that biscuit dough and donut dough was the same. News to me.

We met with Kenley this morning. I like him. He told us to talk to banks and the apartment first before he starts showing us stuff so we know how much we can spend and when we can leave. He gave us this big binder full of stuff. He was joking about reading it and how boring it will be, but I'm sure me and Andrew will both read it. We told him most of what we want and most of what we don't want. There are always things you remember right after you leave. But we got in the long-houses that look like trailers and the pool and fireplace stuff. I want to be as helpful as I can.

Kiss the Moose

Kiss the moose
I’ve had “Kiss the moose” stuck in my head all morning. This calls for a story.

At McGuire’s in Pensacola, there was this awesome guy who sings. If you do something wrong, or if he just feels like it, he breaks out into “kiss the moose” or “kiss the crotch” or “kiss the ass” and doesn’t stop until you do. The “regulars” are fun too because if you don’t know what he’s talking about, they’ll be more than happy to let you know (There is a moose head on the wall, a picture of a leprechaun [the crotch] and a picture of the Sistine chapel ceiling I think [the ass]). My favorite part was when Natasha picked up her glass and it shattered and the guy singing stopped cold, looked at her and was like, “We don’t break shit here” with such a serious face. Then he proceeded to sing “Kiss the moose”. He also at some point made Ryan kiss the moose. Ryan almost ripped it off the wall. Good times.

Andrew didn’t feel good, so we didn’t go to dance lessons yesterday. I’m not sure I want to go anymore. I kind of want to wait and start again next semester from the beginning.

The kitchen is almost clean. The stove is pristine. I’ll give it another scrub-down before Mom gets here though.

I feel better about buying a house now. The radio said we'd only need 5-10% down with good credit and proof of income. We have that.

Also, if anyone knows how exactly I would change a baby, please let me know. I asked Andrew how to change a baby and he was like "you pick up it's legs and wipe it's butt" and I was like I know that and I can't do both at the same time. So we asked Lauren and she said the same thing Andrew did. :-/

Cool!

Video games, pictures and houses

Not much of an update today. Andrew pretty much hammered out our eating out budget. By next year we might actually have 20% to put down on a house! :) But in February we’ll start talking to Kenley and see what he says to do.

Video games are relaxing. I was up late playing one of the Ratchet & Clanks. I beat it and when it started over, I decided that I’d watch all the cut scenes this time around. I must have played the game at least 20 times, and I always would skip the scenes. It’s not bad so far. I’m on like level 5 or so already.

Also, check out my Delicious page, the link is on the right menu -->
I keep adding new links to it every so often. I added a really cool one today (if you are a photoshop dork like me)
